Well, here we are. The very first blog post, the very beginning of this journey – CRAZY!
Alright, a little bit about me: first of all, if you saw another McCann on the Goers Blog that was probably my husband, Matt! For sure go read his blogs because he's the funny/goofy one of the two of us. We got married March 3rd, 2018 and are loooovin the whole marriage thing. Currently some of our favorite things include hiking, rock climbing, bonfires, camping, learning stuff, cooking, and hanging out with friends and family. We live in Brooklyn Park, MN and are big fans of winter here because with that comes xc-sking, snowboarding, and a change of pace. I guess you can also go read Matt’s blog if you’d like to know more about his heart for missions and I’ll share a bit about mine here.
Through a short-term trip to Japan in high school, God lit a passion in my heart for reaching the unreached – those who have never had an opportunity to know that they have been purchased and redeemed!!! Along with this passion, I LOVE science and healthcare. I graduated from the University of Northwestern with a double major in Biology and Bible and wasn’t exactly sure how God would intersect these two worlds. Throughout school, my plan was to attend Physician Assistant school right after graduating and reconsider the whole missions thing after I was established in my career. My sophomore year, however, God realigned a few things. I was introduced to GoCorps, a “middle-man” type agency that connects fresh grads with a ministry opportunity overseas where they can also use their major! When my eyes were opened to the fact that this opportunity existed, I basically knew immediately that this was it. Fast forward two years and a wedding later and my husband and I are moving to Peru this coming March for two years. Freshman Sophie had no idea how God would use those next four years...His plans are so incredible and typically SO different than mine (PTL!) We are PUMPED and so excited that we are now able to invite others to join our team! Thanks for reading and I am excited to share more in the upcoming weeks!
