It’s a funny thing! According to the Oxford Dictionary, time is “the indefinite continued progress of existence, events, etc. in past, present, and future regarded as a whole.” With that being said, time is measurable for us. We like to refer to things in the past, present, and future as though our memories are on a timeline. If you think about it, each day we have 1,440 minutes. That means each week we have 10,080 minutes and to go even further than that, we have approximately 43,800 minutes per month!!!
YHWH has abundantly blessed me by going above and beyond my expectations. Within two months of the summer, I became fully funded. Even after that, more people have continued to join my team and the work I’ll be doing abroad. To me, those 87,600 minutes seemed to go by faster than I could snap my fingers! Before I knew it, it was August and I am now just a month away from beginning my training to go abroad.
Once I was fully funded I soon felt that I had accumulated too much time on my hands. Funny thing to think about with how many minutes we are actually given, right? But eventually I began to realize how little time I actually have in the grand scheme of things, especially according to YHWH. Just like Peter says in 2 Peter 3:8, “But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to [YHWH], and a thousand years is like a day” (NLT). Therefore, the 1,440 minutes found in each day that sometimes feel neverending to me are nothing compared to YHWH’s time.
So then, if I only have a short time until I go overseas, how am I making the most of the minutes that are left? Am I making sure to bring YHWH into the 1,440 minutes I am given each day? Am I taking some time to spend with family and friends as my launch date draws closer with each passing minute? Am I bringing glory to His name throughout each minute? Sometimes it can become really intimidating if I think long and hard about how little time I have left in California, let alone on this earth (that can be a whole other blog post). But YHWH understands me and my struggles. He is continuing to remind me that He is there with me through every minute of my life that I face, regardless of how small my time left with loved ones is. So rather than being “alone” in this month of 43,800 minutes, I have time; time for fellowship with YHWH, family, friends, and myself. Because “[YHWH] has made everything beautiful for His own timing” (Ecclesiastes 3:11, NLT).
So the question is, what are you going to do with the 1,440 minutes you have each day?
