Jesus calls the dead to rise. In exchange for our brokenness, he gives us a new identity. He does what seems impossible. How can what is dead show signs of life again? Does a plant reach its full potential if it is cut from its source of nourishment? Yet, this is what He does. He gives us new roots and replenishes us from a well that never runs dry. Freedom is spoken over us and we no longer have to bear the weight of our shortcomings.
Instead, we can run to our Father who invites us with open arms. He is calling us to more. He invites us into a celebration of what He is doing not only in our lives, but the lives of others.
It’s only day two in East Africa and I have a lot to think about. I spent some time on my roof this morning in prayer over my new city. I was reading Luke 7 and was reminded of Jesus' power to give life. He makes us new and does what we cannot do. I’ve been praying and preparing for a year and the Lord has been so faithful. I have already been able get a glimpse of what the Holy Spirit is doing here. People are hungry to know more about His truth. What a privilege to be a part of it. Soon I will begin teaching English classes and entering into the role of a language learner. In time, I will have a routine and have new friends to share my life with. My new home has started to make a place for itself in my heart and though I am overwhelmed, He meets me here.
