Disciples Making Disciples

2 Timothy 2:2 “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”

This week has been full of powerful breakthroughs: in the language, culture, and relationships. One of my language teachers is from a Christian background, but growing up she rarely had opportunities to go to church or read the Bible, so she is still unsure what it means to walk with Jesus. We are about the same age and connect really well, and one day during language class all we did was read the Bible together (in the target language). After this experience, I realized I felt ready and excited to start a discipleship relationship with her, even though she doesn’t speak any English.

We have started meeting weekly, reading the Word together, sharing joys and sorrows, and praying together. Her hunger to know her Heavenly Father more amazes me. It is so clearly from God that this relationship is flourishing. I am still far from fluent, yet God miraculously uses these times together to grow and shape us both more into His image.

One of our conversations revolved around what it looks like to reach people here who do not yet know Jesus. She has many friends in this category, yet she said that she doesn’t feel equipped to share truth with them. It is difficult and complex, yet we are trusting God to give wisdom, just as He promises in James chapter 1. As we discuss this more and pray for wisdom, please partner with us. My hope is that the Kingdom of God would grow as my friend grows in her faith, and that she would feel equipped to in turn “entrust [this Truth] to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”

May this lead to an exponential movement of disciples making disciples!
