Joy Comes!

We are officially fully-funded, plane tickets have been bought, and Visas are in the works! In just a couple short weeks we go through training on acculturation, language acquisition, and professional development. Then we will be ready to fly to SE Asia!!!

I am so excited for what is next, but the reality of leaving hit me hard today. Our top priority these next couple weeks is time with friends and family--and it should be--but in some ways I want to just avoid good-byes altogether. I feel tempted to slip away and not see people because every time I do hang out with someone, I feel a dull ache knowing how much I will miss them.

But He is worth it. While reading my Bible yesterday, the Lord reminded me of the song by Rend Collective, “The Cost”:

I do not need safety

As much as I need You

You're dangerous

But Lord You're beautiful

I'll chase You through the pain

I'll carry my cross

'cause real love

Is not afraid to bleed

I’ve counted up the cost, and You are worth it.

Jesus is worth it. Not only is He worth chasing through the pain, there is great joy in it! As I poured out my heart to my Savior, He entered into that place, comforted me with His love, and rejoiced over me with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). An inexplicable peace washed over me, replacing the sadness and fear. There is nothing more exciting than sharing Jesus with someone for the first time, and that is what I get to do!

So I rejoice. There may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).
