Strength in Peace

Posted on Friday, September 14, 2018

As my husband and I have been preparing to move overseas, the fears creep in, forcing aside truth… But I didn’t realize how high the lies had piled up until two nights ago.

I was going to bed early and alone in our room, when I suddenly felt crippled with fear. Crying  out to the Lord, I fervently asked Him to intervene and cast out the darkness. Desperate to find some way to distract myself from the anxious thoughts, I pulled out a book lying on the floor and randomly opened it to read these words: “Passion means whatever a person is willing to suffer for. [When you have passion for the Lord] the Father’s passions have become your passions […] Satan fears you, and the angels applaud you.”

Immediately the fear vanished.

Peace came--in full strength.

The Lord reminded me of Ephesians 6:10:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm…”

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. Satan does not like that my husband and I are walking in obedience to move overseas.

And yet

We have the full armor of God.

We have perfect truth to stand firm in.

We have steadfast hope to cling to.

And most importantly, we have a loving Savior to cast our anxiety and fears on, because He, the Lord of the Universe, cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). Praise Jesus!
