Over the last week, I've had very little sleep. I've been the bergère (shepherd) for the DEFI Bible students. This means that I am responsible for the various needs of the students, I make sure people are where they need to be, I pray at meals, I have daily things prepared, and I plan a special event for the group. The Best VBS

As something of an expert in camp and VBS experiences, I can say with a fair amount of confidence that the 2019 Team missions conference VBS was a success. Before a small group of us piled into a van and drove to Spain for the week, we planned. Starting with the theme of the Kingdom of God and Matthew 19:14, we wrote out lessons for each day based on passages in the Bible and thought through games, crafts, snacks, and songs to go along with each message. Normally, I love learning. I'm that weird person who misses studying at school. I would be quite content to live in a library as long as a steady stream of tea and coffee were provided. However, in ministry, I find there's pressure to be perfect and complete in one's knowledge of theology, culture, and the local language. In contrast, the things I know the most about are probably poetry and a plethora of useless trivia. Getting to Know Grenoble

Some days, I feel like I don’t know Grenoble at all like the day they changed the tramlines without notice, or the day I got lost, I braked too hard on my bicycle to avoid a car, and flew over the handles like a cartoon character, feet flailing. With my knack for attracting trouble and dubious skill of any sort, I sort of expect moments of misfortune. In the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10, I am 100% Martha. I love to work. I feel most comfortable and happy when I'm able to expertly and efficiently do a job, especially if I am doing multiple jobs simultaneously. In the American camps at which I've worked, my kind of approach thrives. I don't mind the fact that breaks don't exist and that I have a variety of responsibilities.
