Merry Christmas! I hope this celebration of Jesus’ birth has been filled with lots of memories and time spent with loved ones. With January 9th quickly approaching there is a great feeling of anticipation lingering. Several of my friends from my “Go Corps” class have already arrived at their locations and are getting settled into their new homes and meeting their new teams. I will be joining them in just a few days.
December has been a wonderful month full of God’s provision. One example has been my exit from the Fire Department. I spent a lot of time praying about my resignation. I prayed for understanding, and grace as I began following the necessary steps. Not only did I receive both of these from my crew, but they were also very supportive of my decision. The whole process began on a pretty comical note when I accidentally told my captain over the phone of my intentions. But that’s a story for another time. I recently visited the guys one last time and dropped of a red velvet cake on their last shift before Christmas. It was nice to see everyone again, and meet the new rookie who replaced me. There’s a funny story to go with the red velvet cake too… But i’ll leave that with them.
The rest of december has been spent soaking up the family time! I had a wonderful vacation in Colorado skiing with some friends and then in Vegas celebrating my little sister’s 21st birthday with the family. Next up on our family calendar is a game night, going to watch Star Wars together (saw it once already- yikes, not a fan of this one) and then finally my going away party on the 9th!
On that note, I would love for you all to be in attendance if you are available. My going away party will be an open house from 1pm to 5pm on January 6th. Everyone may come and go as they please. It will just be a time to hang out and visit amongst friends and family before I fly out on the 9th. Details will be sent to you through the newsletter I am about to send out.
