Less than a month until I launch into the field. That’s crazy. Thinking about the journey that God has lead me through over the last year, it has truly been one that I will never forget. It does seem appropriate to write a little about my GoCorps experience, since without them I would most likely not be going into fulltime overseas ministry, much less for two years. My first contact with Gocorps was after I heard about them from a friend who was getting ready to launch for his two years. At the time I wasn’t really considering overseas ministry but I knew I needed to do something. I am thankful for his suggestion and how Gocorps helped me find a placement that fit me.
Given I am about to launch, I want to encourage others who may be thinking of getting more involved in ministry to check out Gocorps and what they offer. Gocorps’ focus is on sending out recent college graduates overseas for two years in positions that they would be able to use their newly acquired skills as part of their ministry. As I have learned more about and from my coaches and other Gocorps staff, I have really seen their heart to mobilize people into these positions. Using peoples’ skills and passions in ministry is a great opportunity for people who may not have a ministry related degree to get involved. Another great thing that Gocorps does is the age group that they focus on. Getting people involved who are in their 20’s is a great idea. Right after college, the majority of people have marketable skills don’t have attachments like kids or a booming career to make it more difficult to follow a calling God may have for them overseas.
Following Gods calling for your life is not always easy but it is always worth it. It looks different for everyone and we can see that in scripture. In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians Chapter 4 he speaks of vocations that each of us are called and how it should bring unity and build up the body of Christ. I can only hope to play my part in this and help to grow and build up the body as well as give everyone else an encouragement to seek Gods plan and get involved in whatever way God leads.
I hope you are all blessed and encouraged, my next post will be from across the world.
Thanks for all your prayers.
