Celebrating the Little Victories

Posted on Saturday, March 31, 2018

When we first got to Germany, our supervisor prepared us for some of the difficulties of living abroad. She told us about how things that would take you a couple hours in the states could take a whole afternoon or day in a foreign country. Between language barriers, cultural differences, and the beautiful complexity of the German public transportation systems, we have found this to often be the case. The other day, after rushing to the Ausländerbehörde (Immigration Office) for a strict 10 am appointment, I was able to get my two-year visa to stay in Germany. Although these moments can be extremely frustrating and stretch your patience to its limit, the feeling of success makes it worth it! I think it's important to remember that God is with us in those moments. In the times when we feel challenged and stretched doing something that would normally be easy in our home country, we grow in trust in Him and His plan for our time overseas.
