Alright, so I wasn't sure if I was going to share this or not, but I decided I will. I like analogies (most of the time) and like to come up with some interesting (for lack of better word)ones myself. Anyways, as I was lying on my bed during a break in between a support-raising appointment and sending out emails I starting thinking about my next blog post. I don't remember exactly how I got on the song but all of the sudden I was thinking about the teapot song. You know the one that goes "I'm a little teapot short and stout. Here is my handle. Here is my spout" and so on. (If you don't know it well now you at least know some of the words to it) In particular the line "when I get all steamed up, hear me shout" popped into my head.
At first, I was like "what? why am thinking about this? how did this pop into my head?" (this thought happens a lot with me), but then I started thinking about it more (because that is what I do I think). I started thinking about some lyrics from worship songs. "Set a fire down in my soul. That I can't contain. That I can't control" and "For the sake of the world burn like a fire in me". And I was like that's it, we are a teapot (well, like a teapot)!!
The Holy Spirit has set a fire inside of me and it gets me "all steamed up" for God's work and wanting to do His will. God gives me this desire and passion for serving Him, and when I see injustice and those in need I "get all steamed up". It's like a righteous anger mixed with a desire to love like God. And I get to share this we others.
So when I get tired and start questioning if it is worth it God reminds me why I am doing this. I realized that the appointments with people usually end up the easiest part for me because I get to share the passion God has given me (though it still is challenging overall). God sparks that fire within me and I "get all steamed up".
