“I wait on the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchman for the morning, more than watchman for the morning. O (insert your name HERE), hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem (insert your name HERE) from ALL his iniquities.” Psalm 130:5-8
THIS is the hope in the valley. Christ is WORTH the wait, the perseverance, the struggle. Because, guys, only HE will redeem you. HE is the ONLY God with unending steadfast love and plentiful redemption.
WAITING on the Lord: the lesson God has been teaching me this past few weeks. The Lord literally brought Psalm 130 to me on a morning I hadn’t done my devotions the past couple days, I was spiritually dry, Satan’s lies were having an easier time taking root, my thoughts were weighed down in the muck and I was actually tired of my own sin. Just wanted Jesus to take away all my sinful thoughts, actions, the junk Satan throws my way to take my eyes off of Jesus. I WANTED JESUS TO ANSWER MY PRAYER OF FREEDOM NOW! But ya know what, he didn’t. Instead he said, “Holly, wait on me. I’m trying to teach you something here. No matter what I lead you into, I want you to PURSUE ME and WAIT for me to move. I am the ONLY ONE who can set you free, redeem you, love you FULLY, know you FULLY, so wait on me. Keep your eyes FIXED on me and ALL, girl ALL, your iniquities will be forgiven.” WOW. What an amazing, faithful God! I HAVE NO DOUBT this is preparation for the years ahead. The real lessons, as I like to say, where the rubber meets the road, where your profession of faith really meets every day life.
The big question:
In what rut of life is God asking you to wait on his power and not try to do it on your own timing, pursue him, find you hope in his word and presence, and keep your eyes fixed on him?
