Christ the Ultimate Sacrifice.

Posted on Wednesday, September 5, 2018

I reached out and reconnected with a Turkish friend I met in my beginning months here in Turkey. He is a practicing Muslim. We met two months ago and opened up the Scriptures together. He was intrigued, but not fully interested (it seemed to me). Then, we finally met again for breakfast. As we were talking about Bayram and the practice of sacrificing animals on this holiday, I brought up Christ being a sacrifice for us. He read Hebrews 10, and his response was, “This is superficial.” His understanding of Christ being the ultimate sacrifice was that Christians now have an ultimate excuse to continue to live in sin. But we talked and I shared some personal testimony about how this actually means the opposite. He was attentive and we left breakfast ending on this topic. As I wondered how he received this time and conversation, he said something as we arrived back home. He said, “I am really glad we met when we met.” (referring to the “random, appointed” time on the street he was walking his dog and we connected six months ago.) Little by little the truth of God’s word and revelation is being revealed to conversation. Please pray with me for his salvation and for God’s mercy and grace to capture his life. May his eyes be opened to the truth that Christ was the all time sacrifice for all sins, and for faith in this amazing, gracious Jesus.
