While at training, I got to spend time with a lot of new people. It is always such a joy to hear about people’s passions and get to see what makes them unique. I really enjoy spending one-on-one time with others and delighting in how God has made them and shaped them. This being said, I decided to go on a walk by myself to rest and be with God. I had walked for about an hour when I decided to sit by a bridge and watch the river. As I sat quietly, I started to think about all the things I needed to do while at training, and all that would need to be done when I returned home; including writing this blog post. As all these thoughts were swimming around in my mind I felt God say, “enjoy me.”
In my attempts to please God through being responsible in my tasks, I had completely missed out on enjoying him. I had spent time with others and enjoyed them, but when I came to spend time with Him, all I wanted to focus on were the tasks that needed to be completed. I was so intent on pleasing him that I was missing out on being with Him.
So, I sat and enjoyed him, enjoyed the day he had made, enjoyed the place he had me at that moment. God is the only true constant. His promises are sure, and he will always be himself. Take time to enjoy your creator. He enjoys you.
