Hello! My name is Caroline, and I will be serving refugees in the Middle East for the next two years. Here's why I am doing this...
I learned about the global refugee crisis in the fall of 2015 and felt God calling me to serve refugees and immigrants with my life. In the summer of 2016 I got to work as an intern for Immigration Legal Services. Through that experience, I got to sit with many refugee families as they were resettling in the US and hear their stories. Their faces and stories solidified within me God's heart for those who are displaced and a burden to share truth with them so that they may know the Lord and find their peace, joy, and future in Him.
In order to serve refugees well, I want to understand what it is like to leave behind home and family to build a new life in a different culture, to have to learn a new language, and be surrounded by people who hold different beliefs than I do. God has invited me to serve refugees in these next two years and my hope is that through my work many would come to have a personal relationship with God and go on to share the truth about him with those they encounter.
My heart is for God to use me to provide for refugees' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Matthew 9:35-38
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
The Lord has given all to me, and there is nothing he cannot ask of me.
John 6:68-69
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”
Prayer
Please pray for me as I prepare to leave in November. Before then I have to raise my support, get all the logistics in order for moving overseas, and start learning a new language. My constant reminder to myself as I look on what seems to be an impossible task is that "I can do no thing apart from God. It is my job to be faithful, not to be successful."
