A Christmas Reminder

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

Living in the middle of the jungle I have to admit it’s a little difficult to feel in the Christmas spirit. It’s 85 degrees. The sun shines most days and you’re lucky to go a day without sweating. The sound of palm trees rustling in the breeze drifts through the windows every afternoon.  It’s pretty much eternal summer out here. And I love it! But for me, Christmas has always been celebrated with the hope of a waking up to a fresh blanket of snow Christmas morning and temperatures that make you want to curl up with a cozy blanket next to the Christmas tree with a cup of coffee and a good… Read more >>

Joy in the Struggle

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

Quick disclaimer before you read on. This was a hard post for me to write. It is honest. It was accompanied by many tears as I recounted the memories and moments of the last six weeks, as I pondered all that God has been doing in me, all he has shown and revealed to me and the precious ways in which he has comforted me. It contains the questions and fears that I have been fighting against and struggling to answer. But I want you to know how I’m doing. I want to be honest with you because we serve a God who is forever faithful. So here it goes. I am a DAUGHTER of the KING. Not much about this… Read more >>

Uncomfortable Faith

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

I am late posting for the month of August, but as I prepare to leave on Saturday, I can’t help but think back on the whirlwind the last 14 weeks has been. June launched me into the beginning of my support raising as I attended GoCorps training in Minneapolis. With weddings, bridal showers, and a mission trip to El Salvador and Guatemala in between, NCLEX studying competing for my time as I worked to balance study and support raising, June disappeared and July flew by with equal speed. And August, where did that whole month go? Despite the speed at which these past few months have come and… Read more >>

Unexpected Growth

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

I love that I serve a God who is constantly challenging me and drawing me closer to him – through His word, through my experiences, through my interactions with others, and through His creation. In June, I embarked on a mission trip oblivious to the countless ways God was planning to reveal himself that week, the things He would teach me, and the life changing experiences I would have. Our team of thirteen left to minister to the people of Asunción Mita, Guatemala and Chalchuapa, El Salvador, never imagining we would be ministered to, changed, and challenged in the ways we were. Some of my… Read more >>

Ready for Another Adventure

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

If you would have talked to me eight years ago about becoming a missionary, moving to another county, or learning another language I probably would have called you crazy. As introverted and shy as I was, I could never have imagined going so far out of my comfort zone for the sake of the Gospel. Having to build all new relationships. Trying to communicate in another language. Becoming friends and ministering to complete strangers. None of it. Despite these things, eight years ago my life changed forever. God began to change my heart, my dreams, and my plans to align with His. Eight years ago,… Read more >>
