So I consider myself a pretty persistent prayer. If there is a burden God has laid on my heart for someone or something, you best believe I wont relent praying. Prayer is a big part of my spiritual walk and , as I've qucikly learned, an even bigger part of my fundraising journey and preparation to leave for Mexico.
I'm in a bible study at the moment about putting on the armor of God from the verses in Ephesians 6. It's only the second week and my concept of the devil has changed a lot. Before, I didn't ever think about calling him out and naming thoughts or actions that came from him and not from God, especially as they were wearing on me. Now I know that we can, and more importantly, should find areas in our lives that are vulnerable to attacks from the devil. Not to wallow in out shear humanity, but to instead put up our fists in fighting mode and pray. Pray against the devil attacking those vulnerabilities, insecurities, and feelings of discouragement. He wants you to be brought down by them, or even worse, ignore them. By praying against these areas, we do just the opposite.
I've also learned the importance of praying for things... specifically. If i'm being honest, sometimes I cower in prayer. As if my God isn't big enough to answer what I ask for. As if what I really need is too big of a request for my all-powerful all-mighty God. But the thing is, if I really do believe that my God is all-powerful and all-mighty, then I need to start treating him like it. So I'm taking faith in believing that God answers big, bold, specific, and expectant prayers.
I'm praying that God uses this fundraising journey as a new turn and another opportunity to see his faithfulness. I pray that he would open my heart to the stories I'm about to hear from the 11-18 year old girls who have been through so much. I pray that he would help this American gringa not miss her country and friends and family too much.
Y'all I can't even contain my excitement about moving to Mexico City and working with these sweet girls. I know I'm going to learn so much and grow in a lot of different ways and I just can't wait. It's just two months away and that time is going to FLY by. I'm trying to soak up every moment with friends and family I have before I leave and not focus too much on the leaving. Part of me still feels like this is all a dream and I'll wake up tomorrow lost in life, but luckly this is my reality!
So anyway, really what I want to say is thanks for listening (reading?) to me pour out my heart about prayer and gush about my excitement in this journey. I hope you'll follow along the next 25 months or so.
