Don't be fooled by the title of this blog post. I'm not planning to go anywhere for a while!
But that's just the point! I'm not going anywhere, yet I'm learning to say goodbye over and over and again.
This past month has been full of hellos and goodbyes... a friend from college came to train here for a different organization for a month, my family came and one of my closest friends on the team has ended his term.
Saying goodbye is hard and this is a new experience for me. Sure I've said goodbye to people before, but I have always been the one leaving. Moving around as a girl, going from high school to college and even moving here. I've been the one going and leaving my commuity behind. Yet now it's the exact opposite.
Standing at the airport saying goodbye to my family and the emotions that followed it were some of the most difficult emotions to work through. To feel so full in heart when you are together, yet feel so incredbily empty when you seperate again is a feeling like any other. I'm so blessed by the amazing communities I am apart of, but the downside is how hard it is to leave such amazing communities, including my family and friends.
Yet I think these are good experiences- learning to say goodbye, learning to be the one who stays while others leave.
It makes me think of what Jesus felt when He had to leave His disciples. I can't imagine what that must have felt like! Here I am a fallen human being with broken relationships so I can only imagine how much stronger Jesus must have felt.
It has also been a good opportunity to remeber that Jesus is ENOUGH. That as wonderful as family is, He is all that we need. Our hearts are satisfied in Him alone. I felt Him ask me this as my family left and I honestly felt like I couldn't live another day this far away from them. He asked me "Isabella, am I enough? I want to be and I promise to not disappoint you, but you must trust Me." How wonderful to serve the Lord of Hosts who cares for every aspect of our being!
Goodbyes are hard, but there will be a day when we no longer will have to say a single goodbye again! Until that day let's remember that He is enough!
