This past week has been a full one! I have been in Minneapolis learning more about the ministry I will be engaged in and how to build up a support team to make such ministry possible. This week has increased my excitement for the process ahead and I cannot wait to get started!
Part of this process includes keeping all of those who care to read updated on what I have been doing, learning and ways I have seen God moving. This past year one of my classes read content by Katherine Patterson. She states, “We write stories not because we have answers, but because we have questions. We write to struggle for sense, for meaning, which we do not already know. You can use writing to deal with your feelings, to figure things out for yourself.”
I have always been a “journaler.” Freshman year of high school I began journaling almost every day as my primary way of communicating with God. I have kept up with this habit and today could go back and read through the past eight years of my life.
Reading Patterson’s words makes sense to me. I write to process and make sense of the world. I write to better understand who God is and what my role is as His daughter. Without pen and paper I would be lost.
So to kick off my Summer Campaign I am committing to writing not just in a journal for myself and God, but to all of you who care to read. As I wrestle with life’s questions, as I am inspired by the works God is doing around me & as I stand in awe of His faithfulness my hope is that God will use these words to inspire you as well.
