Limitless. It has a special ring to it. Limitless.
For a number of years now, “limitless” has been one of my favorite words. I am limitless because I was fashioned by the God who is limitless. I can burst through “barriers” and be catapulted over “ceilings” because I serve the One to whom nothing is impossible. (Idea inspired by 2 Samuel 22:30.)
The longer I walk with Jesus, the more I learn about what it truly means to be limitless. I don’t need to accommodate to the expectations that encompass me or settle into the dreary diagnoses that the doctors give. No. Jesus gives life more abundantly because “limitless” is part of His nature.
A few highlights from this summer:
- He is limitless in healing. One doctor wanted me on narcotics for 6 months. Another said I might never get better. The ER techs didn’t know what to do with me. But Jesus isn’t bound by the laws of this world and He brought the most beautiful healing my way. (If you haven’t heard about how the Lord touched me physically this summer, send me an email and we’ll talk!)
- He is limitless in provision. Earlier this summer, I looked at the amount of support I had to raise and trusted God to bring it in but had no idea how He would do it. Today, 10 weeks later, I’m here to testify that God has provided for me in extraordinary ways, raising up the most wonderful army of supporters. I only have a few appointments left and anticipate quickly reaching my goal. Also, in God’s gracious provision, I just purchased my first-ever one-way plane ticket . . . and yes, it’s to Rome! (Official departure from PHL: September 27th 2016 at 6:30pm. I couldn’t be more excited!)
- He is limitless in surprises! For those of you who know me, you know that one of my favorite prayers is “Surprise me, Lord.” You know I joke about not fitting into one of the 5 termed “Love Languages” because my love language is being surprised. This summer, God has surprised me with multiple spontaneous connections to Italian-speakers (who graciously let me practice my broken Italian with them). He’s surprised me with connections in Rome to people I apparently “have to meet” when I arrive. He’s surprised me with spontaneous break-out worship/prayer gatherings that bring refreshment at just the right time. And yes, I feel oh-so-loved! Speaking of which . . .
- He is limitless in love. Within the course of about a week, God connected me with 7 so women and allowed me to listen to them and prayerfully minister His love to them in astoundingly beautiful ways. Each woman I talked with left the conversation noticeably different than when she came in because she had been encountered by God’s love. You might remember that I was asking Jesus for my ministry in Rome to be defined by His love but it’s apparent to me that He doesn’t want to wait until I get to Rome to begin. I have been blessed beyond words to simply channel His radical love to those around me.
Let me leave you with a thought: How might the Lord want to show Himself limitless on YOUR behalf this week? Let’s trust Him for the impossible.
