Breathe. Pray. Release. Repeat.

Posted on Friday, June 3, 2016

Just a few weeks ago, I was giving this advice to a friend of mine that was struggling with anxiety about the end of the school semester and her summer plans. Now, on the brink of my adventure with God to raise a ministry partner team and to live in Asia for two years, I find myself using these words for myself. Breathe; don’t hold it all in. Breathe out, letting out all of the frustration, worry and fear. Breathe in the assurance of who God is, of who you are to him. Pray to him; tell him what hangs heavy on you, and pray for his presence, peace and provision in this time. Release those heavy burdens. Let them slide away, even if it’s only a little at a time. And repeat, over and over again, whether you let it all go in one round or feel like nothing changed. No matter how you feel, God is with you, and he is good.

This summer of raising support and building a ministry team feels monumental. As I think about what needs to be done, I feel a bit overwhelmed, because this is beyond what I can do.

Breathe. Pray. Release. Repeat. Now it’s time for me to take my own advice. I am about to set out on what can seem like a daunting task. But I need to remember that this, not when I go overseas, but this is when my ministry begins. God’s kingdom is being built through me. It’s true, this is beyond my ability, but God is more than able to provide for me. I just need to keep my eyes on him. God is with me, and he is good.
