Sometimes in English Class

Posted on Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Sometimes life is hard, and work is tiring. Sometimes you lose sight of what God has called you to.

But then sometimes God brings encouragement to remind you.

Sometimes He works it out for only one of your English students to come to class. Sometimes that student just wants to talk and have a bit of company, so you spend the entire class period chatting, for conversational practice of course.

Sometimes she leads the conversation and talks about life, beliefs, good works, sin, fasting, judgement day, heaven and hell, and forgiveness. You get to share with her the effect that Jesus' sacrifice has on your own life. You get to reference the Word over and over in response to her holy book's commands. You get to talk about grace, true forgiveness, being clothed in Jesus' righteousness, and the perfect love of God that casts out fear.

Sometimes the student won't respond at all to what you're sharing, but you know she is listening. You pray that God draws her more and more toward Him. You say goodbye until next week.

Sometimes God reminds you why you're here.
