The Halfway Point

Posted on Wednesday, March 7, 2018

Today marks one year since I arrived in my host country! That means I am halfway through my commitment as a Goer. On one hand, it’s hard to believe that I’ve been here a year already. On the other hand, so much has happened this past year that I almost feel as though I have always been here.

I wish I could share right now everything I’ve learned since last March, but that would take a whole lot of time and a whole lot of words. So I’ll try to sum up the themes:

God provides. He gives us what we need. He knows us. Sometimes, He gives us what we hope for even when we don’t see any point in asking for it.

God is good. His grace abounds. His love covers. His Spirit moves.

God is constant. Even when we forget. Even when we believe lies about who He is. Even though we’re prone to wander.

For the next year, I hope to remain malleable in God’s hands. I hope that as He continues to mold me, He will continue to use me in the lives of the friends I have made here. They are all wonderful people who are so clearly made in the image of God. Pray with me that God would draw them to Himself. Oh, the joy in the hope of brothers and sisters being added to God’s family—our family!
