A Second Home

Posted on Monday, April 30, 2018

Hello Goer Blog Readers!

I'm currently coughing up a small storm as I'm writing this post- I've been sick for the past two weeks; quite severe at first, though now I'm on the upswing.

I'm not usually one to be too bothered by getting sick, but this has been a bit of an interesting experience, simply because I've been amazed at how many of my Asian friends went out of their way to try an help me recover these last two weeks. From the moment I first bowed out of an event due to it, I've been nearly bombarded with gifts and tea and all manner of small kindnesses and well-wishes.

It always amazes me how many people here notice and care if I appear tired or stressed or under-the-weather. Getting sick is never fun, but something about the way everyone has responded has really driven it in for me that I have established a second home here, with friends that I care deeply about and who care deeply about me. As a bit of an introvert, developing such connections has always been a bit of a challenge for me, so I'm very grateful for the way that the Lord has caused these relationships to strengthen over the last few months in particular.

It's been a bit of a slow and grueling month for me, what with needing the extra rest and having to sit a few things out- but there's still nowhere else I'd rather be; and I'm looking forward to diving into May!
