Hello Goer Blog Readers!
I am happy to report to you that a lot has happened since my last update, and this blog post is coming to you from my placement in Asia! I am fully funded, and I have been here at the university for a week now.
My arrival was a little bumpy- the airline lost all of my baggage, so I arrived in Asia with nothing besides the clothes on my back. I'd read in Scripture that Jesus commanded the diciples to take nothing with them when He sent them- but I didn't know He actually enforced it! The airline promised to send me an email when they found my bags- but then I discovered that my attempt to sign in to my email from Asia had caused my email to lock due to the unusual sign-in! Nor did I yet have an Asian phone with which to call the providers, so I was left with a bit of a struggle to retrieve my bags- it took three days. A tip to future Goers: pack extra clothes in your carry-on! You might need them!
Fortunately that has all been taken care of now, and I have been able to start language classes at the university, as well dip my toes into the campus ministry that I am to be a part of. The classes are a bit tough, given that I arrived four weeks late for the start of the semester, but the universities are already providing fantastict avenues for forming relationships with the students here. I am thrilled to be here, and thrilled to be part of this team. I look forward to sharing with you, my readers, some of the stories from the ministry here very soon!
