Longing

Posted on Friday, August 5, 2016

Hello readers!

It's been awhile since I last updated my blog; so let me tell you a little about the last few weeks. I'm currently in week eight of my fundraising campaign, and while I am far from finished yet, I am getting to a place where the finish line is in sight. It hasn't been easy. In fact, I deliberately set out with the expectation that it was going to be very difficult so that I wouldn't be caught off guard when it turned out that way- and it still overwhelms me at times. When I finally hit 50% not long ago, I remember feeling a little tired; something like "Wow. All of that just to get halfway there. I have to do all of that work again."

On the reverse side of the coin, alongside the difficulty, discouragement and frustration of the last few weeks; I have also found that the last eight weeks have been extremely good. I've experienced some of the greatest spiritual high points in my life, and I've seen God come through in some pretty incredible ways. I've also had a chance to meet some really great people who all love the Lord dearly, and hear their stories. I've also learned a lot, and experienced my own passion for my mission field growing. It's impossible to go through something like this without developing what I can only describe as a "longing" to go out and serve the Lord in missions.

That's where I'm at right now. Feeling a little weary, with the finish line distantly in sight, I'm driven on by a longing to walk alongside God in His ministry. Just as the last eight weeks have done, I look forward to seeing how God will use the weeks ahead to continue to prepare me for the work ahead.
