What is Go Week like in one word?
Themostfunknowledgableandawesometimeever. At least that's how I would describe it if I could only use one word.
Go Week has been an adventure in itself. It's funny because before this week I thought of Go Week as the preparation for the adventure. I was going to fly to Minneapolis, sit in classes, learn how to fundraise, get organized, meet my sending organization, leave feeling prepared for anything and then get through the summer of asking people for money before I could fly to Berlin and enjoy the two coolest years of my life. It's safe to say that my idea of this week was completely wrong. Yes I have done all of those things but that doesn't even begin to cover what this week has been for me or how it has impacted me.
This week I fell in love. I've fallen in love with Christ all over again. I realized I've been invited to join in sharing the gospel across the world, I've learned the biblical principles of fundraising and how this is something that he himself has designed for his workers to bring them not only closer to him but closer to the members of his kingdom. He's using my life and this call on my life to influence not only the people in my circles but in my friend’s circles, an entire network of people that I don't even know yet. But he knows them and he knows my need for them and their need for him. He's surrounded this process and brought peace to my restlessness.
This week I fell in love. I've fallen in love with my fellow Goers. My friends. It's such a weird concept and yes you could say I've fallen to fast but I'm embracing the fall and enjoying every minute. There is a completely different experience and friendship that forms between people who share your passion and loves. I'm surround by some of the most inspiring, spiritually led, kind hearted, compassionate and hilarious people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We've spent this week learning together, laughing together and growing as we've began our adventures in accepting the call Christ has placed on all of our hearts. Even though we are going though we are going to different places we are bringing with us the same love, truth and friendship. I'm just as excited for my adventure to Berlin as I am to hear about their adventures across the world and see their ministries grow.
This week I fell in love. I've fallen in love with Grow Week, I mean Go Week. The best kinds of loves are the ones that encourage you, challenge you, bring you closer to God, lift you up and stand beside you through anything. It's only been a week but I have been through a rollercoaster of emotions, fear, excitement, anxiety, and wonder. And through them all my fellow goers, and the Go Corps staff have been there to help me process and debrief them. They've helped equip me for this next season of life, this season of fundraising and building a prayer and financial team to help me before I go, and while I'm in Berlin. They've challenged me to expand my view of God and not keep him in my safe little box but in a defying light that shows he is capable of more than I could ever ask or expect oh him. This week has given me the knowledge I need from my sending organization to talk eloquently to potential partners about what I'll be doing. This week and light a fire of excitement within me that I am excited to share with people throughout the rest of this summer. Even though this week will come to an end, it’s effects will be long lasting and will always leave a loving memory.
I don’t know what the future holds after this week. I don’t know if I’ll make my fundraising, I don’t know if I’ll ever see any of these new friends again, I don’t know if this excitement will follow me after this week. But I pray that I remain faithful that the Lord has his hand in all of this, in my fundraising, in these friendships and in my relationship with him.
