This month, There is Hope hosted a youth talent competition that started with 33 singers and 20 dance groups from Dzaleka and the surrounding villages! The theme for this year's competition was "What is your future?," the same as the poetry workshop we had a few months back. Everyone was able to perform to the songs of their choice each week, except at the final, last weekend. The final round consisted of 3 performances by the singers: a song of their choice, a song chosen by our event coordinator in Dzaleka, and a song that describes their view of their future. The dancers only perfomed 2 songs at the final: one of their choice and one chosen by our event coordinator.
I can't begin to describe the talent, passion and dedication shown by these guys! The video, here, is of the 1st place dance group! 10 year olds Espoir Maheruka and Johnson Burume call themselves, "Punisher Crew" and are knock-your-socks-off amazing!
