There’s a prayer I’ve uttered many times in my life, sometimes more heartfelt than others. “Lord, use my life for your glory.”
I’ve been learning that often, God answers that kind of prayer by putting us in situations where we are completely out of our depth. Sometimes it’s a slow wade into the “big kid’s” side of the pool, sometimes it’s a quick cannonball into shockingly cold waters. But it’s there - in that place of sink or swim and it’s totally dependent on God - when He pulls through. It’s more than just pulling through, though. It’s a magnificent sweep when God plays His hand, astounding everyone and bringing them all to their feet in applause. It’s better than magic trick; it’s an incredible display of real power and grace, a concrete reminder of who He is.
He definitely displayed Himself this month. I thought I’d have to wait months more, maybe a year or so, to see a plane ticket in my hand. Hitting full support so close to the deadline was nothing short of a miracle. And 100% aside, there is so much to be thankful for: a heart healed of old wounds, a spirit refreshed by Jesus’ grace and love, new and deepened friendships, lessons and growth, and a new segment of life about to start with and for God. It’s one I’m not equipped to handle on my own, and that’s a beautiful answer to prayer!
When I’m out of my depth and aware of my limits, I am greatly and obviously dependent on the Holy Spirit, who uses my limited nature to display how limitless He is. He’s done that several times now, and I’ll be happy to see Him work like that rest of my days. Here’s to God using our finite lives to showcase His infinite self!
