I have just returned from my first trip to Nicaragua! I tried to soak up the vibrant culture of both the lush landscape and lively people during my 10 day trip. The streets are lined with a cororlorful array of houses and are bustling with vendors and motor-taxis. During this trip I basically did everything under the sun. From disciplining high school girls, hosting a lunch for the elderly, visiting two schools, teaching at a third, remodeling a 100 year old house, meeting with a Chamber of Commerce, comforting two terminally ill locals, hiking up a active volcano, to swimming in the ocean...to list goes on. Out of all the things we did, I will never forget the feeling of being over prayed over in Spainsh by the elderly. Although I didn't understand their language, between their strong voices and compassionate tears, I felt the presence and power of the Holy Spirit fill us. I may not be the most qualified for this mission (especially in the Spanish department), but I know this is what God called me to do and I trust Him in that.
