My Letter To Future Goers

Posted on Friday, August 19, 2016

Two years can seem like a long time overseas, but that's why it is important to keep God and His word always on your heart.  That doesn't mean the homesickness will go away or the culture will seem less crazy but God's protection and His love can make a great difference while overseas.  Trust may seem like a small five letter word, but it's something that kept coming up during my time in the Philippines.  You have to rely on and trust in Him when you don’t have anything else to lean on.  In Matthew 28:18-20 it says:  "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Sometimes a friend will ask me to describe my time overseas and I try but there never seems to be enough words or details to fully explain.  Unless you have been there the stories just don’t do it justice. So sometimes that means being called overseas might not make sense to other people. In the end if you want to obey, you need to trust that He is with you even when it may not seem like it.  Will you trust and go out?
