Wow, what an incredible last two years! As I look back at all that God has taught me and put me through, I am overwhelmed with amazement and thankfulness to our incredible and awesome God. I would like to share a few specific stories with you all about what I have learned and experienced.
Out of all my time living in Berlin, last February was absolutely the most difficult. Maybe it was the dark weather, or maybe the cold, maybe cultural adjustment, or maybe some spiritual warfare, I am not really sure. All I know is that I found myself very unmotivated, depressed, and fatigued. I didn’t feel like talking to anyone or doing much of anything. I got all of my responsibilities done and was able to act fairly normal around people, but I was definitely not fine. Questions and lies were coming into my head; What’s the point? What am I even doing here? I can’t seem to do anything right! Maybe this was all a mistake. Am I making any difference at all? Am I valuable at all here?
One day when I was walking home from a meeting I saw a bracelet on the ground on the sidewalk. I picked it up, and on it were written the words, “God has a plan.”
I thought this very curious and quite strange that I would find such a bracelet on the ground in Berlin. I took it as a reminder to trust in God and His control, despite my circumstances. My prayer that day was something like, “God, I guess I still trust in you and all, help me please.”
That Friday night God answered my prayer. I attended a worship evening at a church called Hoffnung Berlin, put on by a friend of mine. All I can say is that I experienced God’s presence and care that night during the worship. I was prayed for by people from the church and my concerns started to melt away! I became renewed in my times with God and felt a deeper understanding of His grace and love. He answered me and came to my rescue because of who He is!
As the months have gone by since then, God has been continually proving faithful and answering prayers.
During the month of September I was able to get a freelance visa as a designer here in Germany and start working part-time this month for a Start-up. My renewed Passport came in time, I had all the right paperwork, and was able to miraculously get two freelance contacts, all due to the grace of God through prayer! He provides!! I have started a Bible reading evening with a few friends of mine, and am getting opportunities to share the gospel and the love of Christ, amen!
God is so good and is in control of all things. He has wonderful plans for us according to His great purposes! I have learned in the past two years that I can come to Him in every circumstance and know that He is listening, that he cares and loves me, and that I can entrust and let go of all of my cares and concerns and future to Him.
If you are thinking of becoming a goer for two years but are afraid for some reason or another, I challenge you to take that step! God is there and will help and provide for you in everything you need. He is so good and has a plan.
I praise and thank Him for these last two years for what He has done, and how He was able to use this ordinary kid for His kingdom. Thank you to the wonderful people at GoCorps for giving me this opportunity to serve God for two years overseas! I can’t thank you enough!
So, you reading this who is thinking of becoming a Goer, what are you waiting for? Do it J
I’m Jeff, and I am proudly a Goer.
Blessings to you all,
Jeff
