When I started raising support I thought I would sow seeds in people's lives and help them be good stewards with the resources God has given them. However, in the process, God has convicted me of the resources I have, relationships I need to develop, and judgments I hold onto.
Recently, my church had a financial crisis. Unfortunately, this is fairly common in churches comprised of college-30 somethings. However, this event opened up doors for people to talk about money and stewardship, subjects that have been on my mind a lot these days as I raise support to go to Germany. I like how Steve Shadrach explains this in his book The God Ask- God is asking us to transfer the money he gave us to another account (aka another person). It’s his money and he decides how we use it.
Also, June has been a precious month because of the way people have blessed me (from Texas to Wisconsin) with their time, prayer, and money. Close friends have become even closer as we share honest feelings, struggles, and convictions. My small group had a wonderful weekend at a cabin in Wisconsin and spending Independence Day together. A leader at my church explained to me the purpose of ministering to my generation. All of these happenings have revealed to me how I need to cultivate these relationships now and serve my friends.
Through these events and many more I am coming to the realization that God can use anyone in ANY capacity. The judgments that were buried inside me have risen to the surface and God has debunked them. Who am I to put a value on someone or to limit God in how he can use people!
It’s only been one month and I can see how God is preparing me and growing me. What is going to happen in the next two and a half months before I go?! I have no clue, but I do know God will give me a “peace that transcends all understanding.” (Phil. 4:7)
