GoWeek 2014
Welcome to my first blog post of a two year journey God has placed me on! First, I want to give you a little background about how God chose me to be a missionary for two years. After graduating from Northwestern College, now University of Northwestern- St. Paul, (yes, I know the new name is not gramatically correct :)) I taught elementary music at three different public schools. These years were great learning opportunities and helped me grow tremendously as an educator. As I was looking for a different teaching position this past year, a familiar feeling started to resurface that I had felt my senior year of college--a feeling of wanting more out of life. Now, you might ask why would I want more? I had everything a person could ask for- house, fun roommates, job, food, and loving family and friends. However, this feeling grew stronger so I continued to search for opportunities outside of teaching and found Go Corps. This became the beginning of a new journey not just physically across the world, but spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
God is sending me to Berlin, Germany to minister to people through music. I will be working with a new arts cafe, local churches in their music ministry, and possibly teaching lessons to unreached people. I am excited to share my passion of music to people and help them see how God is being revealed through the music they listen to and/or create. My eyes will be opened to a post-Christian world and how God's light can still shine in a city that seems to forget him despite being surrounded by beautiful church buildings. I'm ready to start this adventure. Are you ready to be my witness?
