Here is an update of what I have done during the month of May!
English for Life Final Class
This past Saturday, May 30th, was the last day teaching English is our community. I have had the honor of teaching these amazing students for almost 2 years. It was a bittersweet celebration. We had our last lesson, test, and ended with a huge party with pizza, KFC, and brownies! And we also took fun pictures with one of our students' selfie stick!
For the past year, I have been teaching the advanced class with five students, ages 13, 16, 17 (x2), and 46. On May 23rd, I was able to take my students out to eat at a little dessert restaurant and present them each with a gift I made, a picture frame with an adjective cloud for each specific student. We had such a wonderful time laughing and reminiscing these last two years together. God really blessed me with amazing students, who each taught me so much thru their lives and determination to learn english well!
Kids Program in Community
This month we have had a special time with our kids in the community. I cannot believe that in just one month, we will have to say goodbye to these precious little ones. Just last week we were able to show them the Prince of Egypt movie--which most kids fell asleep because of the intense HEAT! But nevertheless, we will continue to share bible stories, play games, and sing songs like Hokie Pokie and Father Abraham in this last month.
Teaching Kids Program at Santisuk English School
Natalie and I finished teaching at the Santisuk English School. We had an amazing time with our 7 students--4 being from our own community--teaching English for two months. However, two weeks before we finished our class, three of our students (triplets), were in a motorcycle accident and unable to attend school due to their severe bruises, scrapes, and pain. Please pray for their healing.
Bible Study in Community
Bible Studies in our community have continued to go well. This past month, we showed the Jesus Film in Thai to our bible study group. In addition, we got to celebrate two birthdays: our community leaders' husband P'Tau Won and a youth named Garfield. Currently, we are teaching through the book of Acts and following Paul and the Disciples, and the Early Church. Please pray for God to continue to open the hearts of our neighbors and those that attend our bible study.
Prayer Requests:
- Please pray for Mark and Elle and their curiosity towards Jesus to grow and flourish
- Healing for the triplets, ages 10
- Continued growth in friendships: old and new
- For God to direct us and move in our Community Bible Study
- For God to continue stirring the hearts of our kids, youth, and neighbors
- As I am leaving in 1 month, please pray for good transitions and the hard goodbyes with friends and neighbors
- Please pray for my transition to grad school in St. Louis this August, I need roommates, a place to live, and a job! :)
Can you believe it!?!
I only have ONE more MONTH! And then I move back to the USA....
