I was studying Matthew 6:25-34 earlier this week and I was especially focusing on verse 32b-34:
"...your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
I was reminding myself of these words this week when i was getting anxious about planning for some of my lessons. Sometimes, planning is just really confusing and you're not sure which end is up! But, instead of getting in too much of a muddle (as per usual), I was really choosing to trust God with my concerns and deciding toallow him to guard me in his peace. He said that I have no need to be anxious. So if God, my heavenly Father, says he's going to take care of me, he's going to take care of me. Finished, end of discussion.
Later on in the week, I was riding the marstrutka (the Russian bus/car/van-thing) and my hat was just not doing what it was supposed to. My head was so cold! I was sitting there thinking about how I would have to go out and buy a new hat. How much does a good hat cost? Do I have money for it right now or will I have to wait? And then I forgot about it. I walked into my school and began teaching for the day.
After I had dismissed my students from my first class, the mother of one of my students handed me a bag and said, "Brianna, I went through our drawers and I realized that we weren't using these four hats and I was wondering if you wanted them?" I don't think I've smiled that big in a LONG time. I was SO excited. I very gratefully took the hats and ran into my classroom to gleefully try them on, and decide which one was the cutest. When I finally chose my two favourites and I was done being excited, I remembered the earlier part of matthew 6:
"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorroow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little fath?"-Matthew 6:30
In case you were unaware, God is good all of the time. And he knows what we need. And if you need a good hat, he'll get you four. Also, don't withhold what he's given you in abundance. That's important.
