Tithing Your Career is a movement of students who invest the first two years of their career living and serving globally.
The Tithe Your Career Cohort is designed for Juniors and Seniors who want to explore and take practical steps to finding a way to use their degree and live on mission globally after graduation.
Goals
The Wheaton Tithe Your Career Cohort is for upperclassmen who want to pursue using their degree overseas as their first step after graduation.
It is hosted by GoCorps in partnership with the WCF, and will strategically train and equip you to serve globally after graduation. The cohort will encourage and resource upperclassmen of all majors to invest their degree and their faith globally through two-year missional and professional post-grad placements as their first step after graduation.
Meeting every other week during the Spring semester, the cohort will cover discernment, missional placements, and training for a 2-year global placement.
GoCorps
GoCorps is a mobilization and placement agency that launched the Tithe Your Career movement. As a partnership of 15 different missions agencies and global businesses, GoCorps is the connector, coach, and catalyst that helps Christian young adults tithe their time and talents by using their degree in two-year global placements serving with long-term missions teams and projects.
GoCorps handpicks the best teams that are a fit for mentoring recent grads of all backgrounds and streamlines the whole process by creating a universal application and removing common barriers for young adults. GoCorps partners with colleges, churches, and collegiate ministers to create a culture of global service, and coaches students through the exploration, application and sending process. Since 2009, GoCorps has placed hundreds of recent grads in over forty countries, including 8 Wheaton grads.
Core Values
- Community - Like-minded classmates who share the same passion of wanting their first two years to matter for their career and for the world, and are on the same counter-cultural path that requires persistence and resolve.
- Mentoring + Discipleship - 1:1 from seasoned mission coaches throughout the entirety of the discernment and placement process.
- Incarnational - The cohort will partner participants with ministries who desire to live contextually within the culture they serve and exemplify Jesus’ humility as the Gospel is shared.
- Strategic - This cohort simplifies the process for any student, regardless of their field of academic study, to find strategic, long-term projects that will focus on developing long-term disciples for the kingdom and sharing the Gospel through word and deed.
Application Process
The application will open in the Fall semester and will include completing an application, submitting references, and an interview process. After those are complete, a select number of applicants will form that year’s cohort. Upon entering the program, a GoCorps staff member will help applicants select a placement and provide support and encouragement throughout the preparation process. There is consistent and intentional time spent with students to ensure that they are as sufficiently prepared for the two-year mission/service experience. This includes training, mentorship, and guidance on financial preparation.
Timeline
Application
- January 16th – Cohort applications due
- January 19-23 – Interviews (or before: rolling basis, as application is received)
- January 23rd – Students are given acceptance decisions
- January 24th – Students accept or decline the invitation
During the Cohort
- Training, coaching, and mentorship through the Global Cohort
- Biweekly meeting throughout the semester (evenings, time TBD)
- Team selection process, placement applications, and discernment with a 1:1 mission coach
- Acceptance decision given for global placements
After Graduation
- Graduates begin their launch journey to depart for their 2 year placement in the Fall of 2026
(option for Spring of 2027 launch as well)
GoCorps Committment
GoCorps will provide a thorough selection of placements through their placement list representing 15 different mission organizations. They will provide coaching and mentoring through the selection process of the student’s team and placement. GoCorps provides every student with fundraising training and the opportunity to participate in our Student Loan Forgiveness program which provides $5,000 towards student loans.
Training
Upperclassmen students will take part in training throughout the spring semester through biweekly meetings. This training will focus on holistic development, developing a wellness plan, ministry plan, and other practical items. Topics will include:
- State of Missions: What is the state of the current missionary movement?
- Fundraising: What does the bible say about fundraising?
- Sharing Your Story: How do you share the good news through what He has done in your life?
- Missionary Care: What does self care on the field look like?
- Life on the Field: What does day-to-day on the field look like?
- Spiritual Disciplines: How to engage in spiritual growth now?
