Level 3 Partnerships

Level 3 partnerships happen with a campus or ministry leader that shares the vision of seeing more graduating seniors to use their degree globally and recognizes that GoCorps is uniquely able to mobilize a wider audience of their students.

  • Level 1 = Vendor
  • Level 2 = Preferred Vendor
  • Level 3 = Mutual Partnership: Pre-loaded and Campus-centric

Forming a Level 3 partnership with GoCorps is like deciding to make GoCorps a preloaded app in your campus operating system.  The benefit for your campus is that GoCorps develops our placements and systems with Level 3 partners as key stakeholders.  GoCorps becomes more ‘your ministry-centered’ and together, our partnership becomes a virtuous cycle for overcoming barriers and seeing more students to serve globally after graduation.

But isn’t this like playing favorites?  Well, yes it is.  It’s similar in the way that your campus has formed multi-year working relationships with short-term missions locations.  You have discovered certain short-term missions destinations are a good fit for your students and you’ve decided to recruit teams to go every year to the same location.  This is mutually beneficial, for your campus and for the organization that you are joining.

We want to be a trusted partner because you see how our model of sending will uniquely help you see more students find ways to serve overseas as their first step after graduation.

“The best advice I have for a recent grad is to go overseas for a couple years after graduation.” - Malcolm Gladwell, Author, The Tipping Point

Examples of Level 3 Campus Partnerships

  • Azusa Pacific University, Center for Student Action
    • Global Mission Cohort sending Goers since 2012
  • Belhaven University & Huntington University, Missions Emphasis / Global Vision Week
    • These campuses invited GoCorps to run their missions week.  This provided a new, simpler way of engaging all majors with the idea of how they could engage with the great commission.  A central emphasis is 30 minute one on one 'use your degree overseas' coaching sessions, with over 10% of students signing up for a coaching session!
  • Colorado Christian University, Intercultural Ministries Minor
    • All intercultural studies minors fill out a GoCorps application and do an interview as a part of their capstone class.  This gives them experience in learning how to interact and apply for global NGOs, and it's a way for the university to introduce ways of integrating their degree with global first steps.
  • Charleston Southern University, Missions Studies Major and Minor
    • This program is very similar to the Colorado Christian University partnership and has resulted in several CSUers becoming Goers!
  • University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Global Outreach office
    • After a close relationship for several years with several GoCorps staff being UMHB grads, UMHB and GoCorps formalized a partnership in 2023 where one of our staff is 'seconded' part-time to work out of the Global Outreach office, helping to expand the impact of the Global Outreach office, as well as promote GoCorps to even more students through the weekly ministries.
  • Urbana Global Mission Conference, Urbana '22
    • Urbana '22 enlisted GoCorps to be a programming, messaging and mobilization partner for it's once-every-three-year conference ie in December '22.  Together we made this video and collaboratively promoted the concept of vocational, two-year internships (aka GoCorps placements).
  • Wheaton College, Office of Ministry and Evangelism
    • Similar to UMHB and APU, Wheaton College has enlisted GoCorps staff to join their Office of Ministry and Evangelism team to cultivate a growing missions vision and to launch a Global Missions Cohort modeled on the program that APU started in 2012.

“We must be global Christians with a global vision because we serve a global God.” - John Stott

FAQ's

We first select Sending Partners that are mission organizations with a strong history and reputation and that share the priority of sharing the gospel in word and deed among the least reached globally.

But the most important part of the process of selecting which placements are on our placement list is hand-selecting the individual teams.  Our belief is that the biggest factor in determining whether a placement is a good landing spot for a young adult is the team leader.  We look for gifted and proven team leaders who have the capacity and desire to mentor and disciple recent grads as a part of their mission team and project.

Fundraising is where we save most of the time.  Our fundraising process is 3 months rather than the one-year industry average!  There are a few main components to help ensure fundraising success:

  • Limit the amount of monthly support to be an average of $3000/mo
  • One week of in-person, professional, interactive fundraising training
  • Fundraising is Goers ‘full-time job’ during fundraising
  • Set a deadline and have weekly accountability and coaching with their fundraising coach

This is done through each individual sending partner.  In general, Goers attend anywhere from 2-8 weeks of cross-cultural training before they launch.  But the key to Goers being prepared and successful is the leadership and mentoring they receive on the field.  ‘On the job’ training from gifted and experienced leaders is how we are able to get Goers overseas and they are able to learn and grow in effective cross-cultural communication and ministry throughout their two-year commitment.

Absolutely!  We would love to be a closely aligned post-grad option for you!

This is something unique that we can offer Goers.  Mission agencies don’t have ‘re-entry' as a core skill-set or high value, but GoCorps does!  We help Goers with re-entry in a variety of ways:

  • Connections to ministries that can help with debriefing and coaching
  • Practical marketplace and job search help such as resume writing/editing and training in storytelling and interviewing with a focus on communicating the connection between overseas service and the workplace
  • Cohort of connecting with other Goers who are in transition for prayer and community

Our hope is to serve ministries that want to see more of their students and grads use their degrees on mission globally.  We expect Level 3 Partners to be in regular communication and collaboration to cultivate a new and growing mission culture in your ministry.  Our goal is to communicate and coordinate in an ongoing basis how we can help your ministry and your leaders mobilize better and better!
