Youth Development

Between the ages of 8-18, lots of beliefs and habits are created and formed.  These lead to decisions that affect the career, family and life trajectories of the youngest generation.  Parents play the most important role in mentoring and caring for youth in these formative years.  However, there is also a great opportunity for those gifted in youth development to have a huge impact in helping to teach and shape the emerging generation.

96% of the world's full-time youth development workers are in the United States, even though we have less than 5% of the world's youth population.  The placements in this track are ways that you can invest your background, training and passion for youth into the lives of those with the least access to the gospel.

Croatia is one of the most beautiful places in all of Europe. Tourists come from all over the world to experience the Croatian coast. However, what most of these tourists never experience is the reality of the brutal lifestyle Roma (Gypsies) experience in Croatia. The Roma people are considered the least, the lost. They are the most discriminated and forgotten people group in all of Europe. They are uneducated, unemployable, and considered by most to be the scum of the world.

Ireland has a rich history that has experienced many Christians traditions of faith stemming back to the 5th century with St Patrick. While the unchanging beautiful landscape inspires millions of tourist to visit this country, the spiritual landscape has changed drastically in the last 25 years leaving many disillusioned with religion and far from understanding what it means to have a relationship with Christ, while now adopting the secular and materialistic views of Europe.

This tiny speck of a country packs a big punch. What it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in beauty, especially geological oddities. Although this region is one of the hottest, most barren areas of the world, few countries offer such unusual landscapes - think salt lakes, extinct volcanoes, sunken plains, limestone chimneys, basaltic plateaus and majestic canyons. Outside of the capital city, the country is refreshingly devoid of large-scale development. Goers who love outdoor adventure will find plentiful options for superb hiking, diving, kite-surfing, and snorkeling.

With Germany located in the center of Europe and the expanding European Union, the capital city of Berlin plays a strategic role in the Eurasian continent and even world. This vibrant German city is home to 3.5 million people from over 180 nations and boasts a rich history, lively creative arts and fashion scene, academic depth and unique blend of old world and contemporary culture from around the globe. However, this ethnic diversity creates a large displacement of youth.

Magnificent church buildings occupy places of prominence all throughout the city of Budapest. The central location of church buildings in the major squares of the city is reminiscent of an era in which the institution of the church played a significant role in the life of the city, regularly exerting its influence over many aspects of daily life. But times have changed, and the Budapest of today bears the scars of a godless, communist past while ushering in the reality of a post-Christian present.

After almost 50 years of atheism under communist dictator rule, when Albania opened up so did people's hearts for the good news of Jesus. By the early 90's the evangelical church in this small Eastern European country had been reduced to five old men meeting secretly for prayer and Bible study. In 1991, Albania held its first democratic elections and the Albanian people welcomed evangelical teams from outside; people hungrily thronging to hear a little about the God of love they had been denied.
