Media - Arts

Opportunities in this track differ depending whether it is focused on media or arts.  Media opportunities focus on content creation, whereas opportunties in the arts focus on using music, dance, painting, photography and other forms of art as a basis for developing relationships and having impact.  Serving through the Media/Arts track provides the opportunity to selectively choose subjects and projects that open avenues for sharing the gospel; “work” and church-planting combine into a seamless life of ministry.

Besides the impact that a finished media or art and music piece can make on society, the process of making media can create even more lasting change through the relationships made along the way. Quality media and art is the product of building strong, honest, and intimate relationships between the subjects of media, the producers of media, and the consumers of media. This track is about far more than just creating or performing art or creating video, photography, or multimedia. It is about using these professional skills as a means towards knowing and sharing life with real people.

But times have changed, and the Budapest of today bears the scars of a godless, communist past while ushering in the reality of a post-Christian present.

Masatepe is a community of 45,000 people located in the Central Pacific region of Nicaragua, which is the 2nd poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Situated in the heart of the "Meseta," this area is the most densely populated region outside of the capital. Accordingly, unemployment rates are high. The vast majority of Masatepe claims the Christian faith, yet the holistic Gospel includes more than what has been experienced so far. This team believes the Jesus of the Bible cares about the poor and oppressed; and there's still a need for holistic transformation in the community.
