The team in Ukraine is involved in a community transformation project where no one is invisible and everyone has access to food, freedom, and forgiveness. An alliance of 33 local churches and Christian organizations has formed to focus on four main groups – university students, orphans, Roma people, and victims of war. Goers in this position will serve mainly with the University Student Outreach team, but may also participate in the ministries of the other groups as time permits.
The University Student Outreach team is led by a local Ukrainian and focuses on three areas: (1) leading the young adult ministry of our partner church; (2 ) leading an outreach ministry to the 20,000 Ukrainian university and college students of Uzhhorod; and, (3) leading a ministry to the thousands of English-speaking international medical students in Uzhhorod from primarily Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim backgrounds.
The main focus of this position would be to work with the Ukrainian teammate in planning and leading outreach events to the English-speaking medical university students in Uzhhorod (the majority of whom come from India, with a few students from African nations and even America). Goers will also help plan outreach events for the local Ukrainian students. You will join a team of Christian students who already participate in the outreach.
Another component of this role involves working in our cafe/coffee shop, where we serve the community and provide a place to gather and build relationships with the student population. This space also serves as a place to do outreach and host Bible studies and conversation groups.
We are looking for someone who easily engages with people in conversation and is able to clearly articulate their testimony. Someone with experience working among young adults and has a heart for evangelism and discipleship. Experience with international students is a plus but not a requirement. Barista and/or serving experience is helpful, as well as some training in bookkeeping and business administration.
