Mexico is one of the top 5 countries in the world with the highest linguistic diversity. In Mexico, we live among 25 million indigenous people who speak 364 variants of native languages. Accordingly, Mexico is an important and strategic location for Bible translation.
UNTI- National Union of Indigenous Translators- is an indigenous organization dedicated to the translation of the Bible and the development and preservation of the native languages of Mexico. They work to PRESERVE and STRENGTHEN their languages, producing materials that inspire the DEVELOPMENT of their villages, and encouraging the formation and exercise of INDIGENOUS LEADERSHIP. UNTI desires to build up the languages of the people so that they may relate with God and society within their own identity.
The team at UNTI is looking for young professionals who desire to see all people have the word of God in their heart language. To help further their vision in areas of translation, an individual with skills in administration is greatly needed. The Tribal Language Advancement Coordinator will be responsible to work directly in their Headquarters in Mexico City under the leadership of the Executive Director, Luis Cháves and his advancement team. Goers will also live with a Mexican family and work with a local Mexican church. Trainings outside of ministry will occur every week where our Goers take Spanish classes, participate in workshops with their cohort, and learn practical ministry tools to better equip them for their ministry settings.
