Social Worker

Are you passionate about reaching out to young people and the unique life questions they face? Athens, Greece is at a crossroads between Asia and Europe. Greece is a stepping stone for many from the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa hoping to find asylum in western Europe. During their time in Greece, they navigate a confusing, ever-changing maze of government bureaucracy, resources available to them through different organizations, and simply living in a foreign country, language, and culture. The weight of this responsibility often falls on the teens of the family.

We are passionate about seeing the lives of these teens and their families transformed through the ways of Jesus, walking alongside them on their journey. We work towards community transformation by empowering them to think through the nature of their issues, ask the right questions, and find resources to meet their needs. You can be a part of empowering youth to pursue growth and navigate life.

As a Community Development Coordinator, you would work with the community to identify root causes of some of the felt needs and gather and update information on the different resources available for refugees, both through official means and through the streetwise knowledge gained by the teens themselves. You could then work with the team to develop materials, help lead or facilitate life skills classes, and bring ideas for new initiatives. You would also participate relationally in the community and help young people through one-on-one mentorship meetings.
