Reaching unreached peoples is a crucial task. As a worker in Southeast Asia, you will join a team with a vision to engage an unreached people group who have faced historic displacement, oppression, and marginalization. We desire to see hope-filled Christians from this oppressed ethnic group compelled by love to take the Gospel to their own people and other unreached people groups. Our mission is to prayerfully invite people to relationship with Jesus through love, Biblical storytelling, and ongoing discipleship.
Our primary ministry consists of visiting refugees in their homes. We share a meal or tea together and listen to our friends share their stories, while inviting them to consider God’s story. We also host a weekly English club to meet their needs and desires for education, while also mobilizing the local church and educating them about the needs and realities of refugees. We are also in the process of establishing microenterprise opportunities for those who are skilled in sewing, leatherwork, and other handicrafts.
Goers in this position will live in a local community, learn culture and language, and you build relationships with the local people as a neighbor and friend, sharing Jesus stories and facilitating a disciple-making movement among them. Depending on the avenue you choose to attain a visa, you may also spend time teaching at a local school or participating in a graduate study program as an international student.
As a member of this team, Goers will grow their passion for living cross-culturally while meeting people’s physical and spiritual needs. You will need a heart for ministry, a desire to work with a team of others, a learning and flexible attitude, and a vision of seeing churches started among UPG communities.
