Granada is a vibrant, centuries-old city with a thriving university, and sits at the feet of multiple mountain ranges, retaining a relaxed pueblo feel as a casual small-city. It is the perfect place to get to know people from many cultures and walks of life sharing the Gospel through testimony and love.
Spain’s population, with its rich Roman Catholic tradition, is mostly agnostic or apathetic towards faith in Christ and left as spiritual wanderers in Post-Christian Europe. The Evangelical community does not even make up 1% of the population. Because of the scarcity of Evangelical believers, few Spaniards have the opportunity to develop a friendship with someone who knows true hope and purpose found only in Christ. Might you be one of those friends?
Goers serve alongside and under leaders of the Spanish Evangelical Church holding to our values of Immersion, Incarnation, and Innovation. Your time consists of language classes, hands-on ministry, and reflection through mentoring and group meetings.
The Creative Innovator will be involved in serving the congregation and creative populations – artists, photographers, musicians, social entrepreneurs, etc.
Serving where needed in the church, the Creative Innovator will also look to connect to various creative communities through contextually relevant ways. This is a relatively unexplored area in the local church, so requires a strong self-starter who is also willing to take direction from an experienced local and contextual leader.
**Bonus: Eligible Goers can opt to study a Master of Arts of Biblical Studies and Theology in partnership with Sioux Falls Seminary. Tuition is about 1/6th the cost of similar U.S.-accredited degrees.
Hard Skills: Artistic ability or social entrepreneurship (preferred), grass-roots organizing (desirable)
-Language proficiency: No language proficiency requirements, intermediate level of Spanish (B2) preferred. An ability and willingness to engage frequently with the language and pursue greater language acquisition is critical to the success of this position.
-Cross-cultural Experience: Such successful Goers will have a heart for learning via immersion and interaction. Previous cross-cultural experience is beneficial, especially for the Creativity Innovator, who must learn how to best contextualize art, entrepreneurship, and ministry.
-Church Experience: A successful candidate should be passionate about working in a post-Christian environment alongside local congregational leadership.
-Leadership Experience: Leadership experience will be helpful to mentor and bring others along in your ministry engagement in congregational life and community mission.
