"...seated us with him in the heavenly places..."

By Holly on November 21, 2017 Track: Business Region: Europe

Ephesians 2:6 “and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”   This idea of sitting, being seated at the right hand of God with Jesus comes mostly from Watchman Nee’s book “Sit, Walk, Stand” and I’d highly recommend it. GoCorps and ReachGlobal and hopefully all missions organization encourage, or in my case require, I take a day a week to rest or honor a Sabbath. It doesn’t necessarily need to be Sunday but they push the ideology of taking a day a week to actually rest, refill and refocus on what we’re doing and who we’re really doing it for. Being... Next Phase

By Claire on November 7, 2017 Track: Business Region: Latin America

For a long time now, my friends have asked: How much longer are you going to be in Nicaragua? What are you going to do next? Move back to the United States or stay in Nicaragua? Move somewhere else? Well, I am pleased to answer these questions that have spun in my mind since May. When I first came to Nicaragua, I viewed my two-year commitment as a time of giving back for the wonderful life God has given me. I thought I would give two years of my life dedicated to helping others before beginning my career in the states. However, I can’t go back - I love my work. I love new cultures and working... Whirlwind

By Dana on November 3, 2017 Track: Business Region: Asia - Central

It’s barely been a week since I left the states, but man, what a week! I boarded a direct flight to Germany on the 25th of October, arriving in Frankfurt on the 26th. From there, my three suitcases and I got on a train to the town where one of my best German friends, Linda*, goes to college. I don’t recommend traveling alone by train with 150 pounds of luggage, alas, there was no other way. After a few days in the Ruhrgebiet (Ruhr Valley) – Germany’s industrial center, including a tour of an old coal refinery, Linda and I boarded a bus (think touring bus) to get to our home town. When we... Read more

“If you are willing and obedient..."

By Holly on October 16, 2017 Track: Business Region: Europe

“If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat of the good of the land;” Isaiah 1:19 He’s done it again! Jesus, the Savior and provider of all things has done it! In just 5 week Jesus has provided ALL of my financial support! All the praise goes to him for providing and I am just grateful I was able to part of what he is doing in the lives of others who have and will hear about all he’s done and is doing in my life! For me, I really do have to live through things for the lesson to truly be learned and work its way from my head down to my heart. The truth of Isaiah 1:19 is now in my heart... Read more

One-Way Ticket

By Dana on October 2, 2017 Track: Business Region: Asia - Central

I bought my tickets! No, ticket. Singular. Well, technically I have multiple tickets, because the first one gets me to Germany, where I’ll stay with friends for a week, and then I’ll have another ticket to get me to my final destination. But that’s beside the point. It’s really happening. I’m actually leaving the country, and I don’t have a return ticket. It’s a little strange not knowing when I’ll be coming back. There is a lot I still have to do before I leave. I have to continue my language study, become an expert in Office 365, and sort through my belongings and start packing. But how do... Read more

“…to obey is better than sacrifice,”

By Holly on September 20, 2017 Track: Business Region: Europe

1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen that the fat rams.” God calls each of us to obedience in different ways, in different times and for different reasons, but ALWAYS to make us more like him! God’s call of obedience on my life in this season is to the mission field in Berlin, Germany for the next two years and I’d love to take a few paragraphs to tell you how he worked this MIRACLE PEOPLE!! My name is Holly Risinger, I am from a small town... Read more

Family

By Claire on September 3, 2017 Track: Business Region: Latin America

Two weeks ago my parents and 8 other family friends from my church came all the way to Nicaragua for their first ever mission trip. People I have known my whole life came travel abroad to help with what we are doing and experience how I live. And although they were really helpful with the projects that we did, I think the internal transformation is even more evident. The intensity of encouragement I felt from them was surreal and gave me a glimpse of the work God is doing through us all over, work that had been put in place years in advance. We did get to work though and built a coop for 1,... Read more

Holy Places, Holy People

By Dana on September 1, 2017 Track: Business Region: Asia - Central

Earlier this month I visited a “holy place” in my home state. It’s a Catholic shrine to a sainted woman by the name of Frances Cabrini. It was a beautiful day and I spent two hours wandering the grounds of this retreat spot. I walked the meditation path, climbed the 300+ steps of the prayer stairway, explored the Cabrini Garden, and visited the Grotto and The Spring. It was peaceful and restorative. I also spent some time learning more about this remarkable woman. I won’t regale you with the details, but suffice it to say, she was a true woman of faith, and someone well worth emulating. Which... The Rolodex

By Dana on July 31, 2017 Track: Business Region: Asia - Central

Over the last two months, I’ve met with a lot of people. All sorts of people, from a lawyer to a nun. Some are my age, and some could be my grandparents. In fact, some where my grandparents. Employed, unemployed, retired. People I know, and people I didn’t know until I set up the meeting. Individuals from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. But one thing they all have in common: They willingly chose to meet with me and hear about what I’m doing. Hopefully, my story has had some impact on their lives, their view of the world, or their understanding of ministry. Their stories have certainly... Read more

July Update

By Kirk on July 24, 2017 Track: Business Region: Africa - Sub-Saharan

Friends and Family, We are coming out of the coldest part of the year here. Most of the mosquitoes are gone, but I sleep with 3 blankets on my bed, so it does get surprisingly cold! In Chichewa we say, kukuzizila (it's cold).  In May my parents came for a visit. It was fun for me to be able to show them what life is like here in Malawi. We visited Lake Malawi, hiked up a mountain, and went on a safari. In early June, I taught 6 groups of 10 women each how to make soap. This was in partnership with another organization that works in rural villages. It was exciting for me to see the way their... Read more
