Arriving and Much More

By Laura on December 30, 2014 Track: Media - Arts Region: Asia - East

So much has already happened in my 5 days here in C, it's hard to know where to begin. Before I left my greatest source of anxiety was the traveling, flying has always caused me a lot of pain due to pressure change when the plane is landing and this journey required 4 flights. That and not being sure if my bags would make it here were probably the biggest concerns I've had through this entire process. I'm ecstatic to say that all my bags made it and I had NO pain flying...like ZERO, NADA, ZILCH, LING. Thank you everyone praying for my safe and pain free travel! Once I got here I pretty much... Waiting Well

By Laura on November 3, 2014 Track: Media - Arts Region: Asia - East

The last couple months have felt like 10 years to me. Over the last 8 weeks my preparation for getting to the mision field seemed to be a time full of waiting rather than doing. I imagined that I would already be in the city where I will be working by now, but due to certain support and visa requirements I've simply had to wait for documents and other things to come together. What did I do during this waiting period? I still met with friends, family, supporters and others as if I would be leaving any time soon. Finally, I am leaving soon and it's time to pack my bags. Having a date is just... Read more

Summer In West Texas

By Laura on August 3, 2014 Track: Media - Arts Region: Asia - East

This summer has been an awesome learning and growing experience. I am two months into the process of raising support with only one month left until my Go date. At the beginning I knew--I knew--this summer would be just as hard as it would be great. I knew there would be obstacles. This has been a new experience that brought new struggles I've had to learn how to face. What I am most thankful for this summer are these hard times and struggles; each of those moments has been not only a learning opportunity for me to grow but also an opportunity to be brought nearer to Christ, to rest in the One... From Texas to Asia and the Summer Between

By Laura on May 27, 2014 Track: Media - Arts Region: Asia - East

Hey There!  I'm moving from Texas to Asia in the fall and I'm so stoked about it! There is so much to be done but already so much to look back on and be thankful for! I've had the opportunity to watch God work in my life over the last few years in ways that have accumulated and landed me here, in a room full of Go staff and other Goers, that in a short time, have made a permanent place in my heart. So a bit about me....I'm from a small west Texas town and was saved when I was 14 in November 2004 . I graduated high school in 2008 and after that I  was a bit of a rolling stone through my... CHANGE2014 "大きに”

By Mark on March 14, 2014 Track: University Outreach Region: Asia - East

Here is a video I made today for a conference I served at called CHANGE2014. It is a Christian conference for all the Christian students who are a part of Student Impact (JCCC). This year, the conference was in Osaka, Japan and the theme was Ookini, which is a word usually used only in the Kansai area of Japan that means "Thank You". Ookini also means "great" or "big". At this conference, the people were thanking God for his great love, great deeds/power, and great vision. Read more

Vacation

By Mark on January 29, 2014 Track: University Outreach Region: Asia - East

Hi everyone, Here is a little update for all of you. Throughout the STINT year, we get two weeks of vacation time, so my teammates and I decided to vacation for one week on a tourist island called Koh Lanta in Thailand. We chose to vacation here because we have our Midyear conference coming up in ChiangMai, Thailand so we decided to come early with some of the other STINT teams and vacation here with them. Thailand isn't one of the cleanest places in the world and several people have gotten sick so I just wanted to ask everyone to be praying for all of us here as we recover, rejuvenate, rest... Hey everyone, For the past few months, I have been meeting with a student named Taku. If you've been keeping up-to-date with my monthly newsletters than you should already know about him. Anyways, Starting next month, we will be starting a bible study that we will go through together learning about the roles of male leadership in the church, the home, and etc.  We both wish to learn about what God has called us to as Christian men. Do You Know Christmas?

By Mark on December 14, 2013 Track: University Outreach Region: Asia - East

This past week, we had our big Christmas outreach that was super fun and exciting. There was good food, worship, a game show quiz, a Christmas skit, a message, hangout time and 10 new believers. The whole thing was in Japanese so I didn't know what was happening, but it is so awesome to hear that 10 students gave their lives to Christ at this event. What is event better is that this event was primarily student led. The staff and STINTers took a back seat on this event and just provided support for the students leading. For us interns, we basically just invited students to come and one of the... Read more

Semester Planning

By Mark on November 30, 2013 Track: University Outreach Region: Asia - East

Earlier this month, my teammates and I spent a weekend on a retreat to strategically plan out the rest of the semester. During this retreat, we came up with 4 goals we wish to see accomplished before February. The first goal is to "Grow in Prayer" as individuals as well as a team. What this means is that we want prayer to be our first priority as well as bring everything we do and say before God in prayer. The second goal is to "See One Japanese Student Come to Christ." This goal is self-explanatory. The third goal is to "Follow-Up with Students and Have Them Join Student Impact (JCCC)." This... Read more
