Going...Going...Almost Gone

By Georgia on August 31, 2016 Track: Ministry Region: Africa - North

So I guess now that I've told you all about my support raising, I should explain where I'm going...and what I'll be doing.  In less than two weeks, I will be moving to North Africa. My team leaders there own a language and culture business. I will be joining them to teach English in their afterschool program for local kids. I will also be learning the local dialect of Arabic through this business. I am really excited about both of these opportunities and the relationships that I will develop through them.  In addition to the couple that's there (and their kids), I will also have another... Support Raising, Faithfulness, and Courage

By Georgia on August 31, 2016 Track: Ministry Region: Africa - North

Support raising...what a journey it has been! Four months ago, I had no idea what to expect. I knew God had called me to go. I knew I was where He wanted me. And I knew He would provide. However, I didn't know what that would look like. I didn't know whether I would enjoy the process. I viewed it as a hurdle to jump, just another step in the process. And it is a step in the process...but a very good one. I am so very grateful for the timing of this process. From the very beginning, when I first heard about GoCorps, to right now, God's hand has been obvious every step of the way. His timing... Read more

The Soapy Mess

By Adam on August 25, 2016 Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Africa - North

Have you ever heard a phrase similar to “God likes to work through us”? I like this phrase because it shows that God redeems and uses His broken creation, like me, to bring about His plans and purposes. I had never really taken this idea any deeper, but the first night of training, the speaker concluded with a story from when he was in training that took this idea to a deeper level, God not only likes to work through us, but He finds joy in working with us. There was a father who’s after meal chore was to wash the dishes. Whenever he washed the dishes, his 2 year old daughter... Read more

Run the Race

By Adam on July 2, 2016 Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Africa - North

“. . . let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” Heb 12:1 Over this past week, this verse has taken on a whole new meaning for me. Throughout my life, God has blessed me with the ability to accomplish tasks and learn new concepts quickly. I say this, not to brag, but to give background for this post. At the beginning of this support raising process, I prayed that I would be able to complete it in five weeks, but here at the end of week four, I am starting to pray a different prayer. This is not because I do not believe that God cannot raise up the funds that I need in the... Read more

Embarking on this new season

By Bobby on June 2, 2016 Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Africa - North

This blog post is an introduction to my life and the adventures that I will embark on in these next two years.  This first blog post comes on the brink, as I’m about to jump into my time with GoCorps and serving with my sending organization.  Summer is coming with a lot of excitement, as I’ll be hoping to meet with supporters, build connections, and really gain a team that I can share these next two years with.  As GoWeek and my summer campaign training comes to a close I am truly excited for this next season of life, and my adventures in East Africa.  I hope you can follow along with me... Transistions

By Adam on June 2, 2016 Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Africa - North

This week has been a whirlwind of activity and learning. Over the past four years, this week has been one of transition. After freshman year, I was starting recovery from ACL surgery. Following sophomore year, I was organizing work projects sites for students to serve at for a week. The summer after junior year, I was just starting my six months serving in Thailand. This summer, I am learning about raising support and preparing to go overseas for two years. There has always been some fear and trepidation going through these transistions, but God has been faithful through it all and taken me... Read more
